Sherry Simmons, MD Medical Director


Dr. Sherry Simmons is a board certified MD with 19 years of post-graduate education. Dr. Simmons has trained across the United States with plastic surgeons and dermatologists, studying the latest techniques and innovative procedures at such prestigious Universities as Harvard, Johns Hopkins and Vanderbilt.

Dr. Simmons received her Bachelor of Science at Southern Illinois University in Psychology and Biology with a minor in Chemistry in 1990, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Furthering her education, she obtained her Masters in Theology and Counseling in 1993 from Covenant Theological Seminary. She graduated from St. George's University School of Medicine and finished two years of clinical/hospital work at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital in Canterbury, England in 1999.  Dr. Simmons then finished a surgical internship at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, NE in 2001 and her SIU Family Practice residency in January 2004.  She is board certified.

Dr. Simmons earnestly researched the laser industry to bring the latest and most innovative procedures to the area. She began working on the concept for Body Perfect in early 2004 and construction on the first facility started that summer. The doors to the first Body Perfect opened November 1, 2004 in Springfield, Illinois.

Mandy Cosby-RN, BSN

Mandy received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a minor in Health from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL.  She then moved to Durham, NC to pursue critical care nursing at Duke University Medical Center.  She returned to Central Illinois to continue Allergy/Pulmonary Medicine where she was involved with clinical trials and went on to publish and present at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology National meeting in San Francisco, CA.  She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Mandy decided to make a change to pharmaceutical sales and she quickly took on the role of District Sales Trainer and was recognized for her outstanding achievements and winning attitude. It was during her sales career that she met Dr. Simmons and was one of  the first clients at Body Perfect.  She appreciated the professionalism of the staff at Body Perfect and Dr. Simmons' academic mindset to stay on top of current research and technology.

When the long coveted position of RN became available at Body Perfect, Mandy knew she had found her dream job.  Since joining, she has trained on BOTOX®_Cosmetic, Dermal Fillers, LipoTherapy and LASERs.  She is currently a candidate for the American Society for Lasers Medicine and Surgery.

When she is not working, you can find her in her metal shop making jewelry or running with her dogs.
 

Paula Krisa-Laser Technician/ Licensed Aesthetician

Paula has been in the spa and beauty industry for eighteen years.  She started as a massage therapist in 1990 and went on to become an aesthetician in 1999 where she graduated first in her class from The Aveda Skin Institute in Milwukee, WI.

Her spa career has been very dynamic, including working in top spas, chiropractic offices, owning her own business and now as part of the Body Perfect team.  She has over 100 hours in continuing education in skin care, anti-aging, LASER training, body treatments and spa management.

She joined Body Perfect in 2006.  She is an active member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and is the LASER safety officer at Body Perfect.  She has honed her skills and perfected her technique with the LASER and is fondly refered to as the "Leg Vein Queen" at Body Perfect, where she continues to expand her career and education.

When Paula is not at work, she is busy with her rescue dog, making jewelry, drumming, or investing her time in spiritual studies.

Miranda Mogle-Laser Technician/ Licensed Aesthetician


Miranda began her aesthetic training at Paris Beauty College in Concord, CA and Aesthetics Plus in Dublin, CA.  She concluded her training at USCA in Springfield, IL in September, 2007.  Miranda joined Body Perfect in October 2007.  Since that time she has received extensive Laser training, attended the national Skin Expo 2008 and is a candidate for American Society for Laser Medicine and Science,.

Miranda volunteers time to charity organizations such as UCP and March of Dimes.  She has recently joined Springfield Road Runners Club and is participating in Abe's Army, a 12 week training program ending with participants running a 10K.  She and her husband of four years took up snowboarding this year and plan to continue bettering their skill at this sport.

Mindy Manci-Office Director

Mindy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 2001.  She worked in the social services field for seven years before joining the Body Perfect team in February 2008.  Mindy is the Office Director and Personal Assistant to Dr. Simmons.  She has become a valuable asset to the team. 

Mindy is the co-coordinator of the Mary Teubner Memorial Bowling Open, raising money for local cancer research in memory of her aunt Mary, who passed away from intestinal cancer in 2001.  The tournament has raised over $80,000 since it's inception.  Mindy also volunteers for The Special Olympics and Children's Miracle Network.  She enjoys spending time with her nephew, Mason who will be a year old in July 2008 and also her beagle, Lucy and cat, Belle.

Marina Bassett-Receptionist

Marina Bassett is a part-time receptionist at Body Perfect, ensuring that clients are well attended to and all aspects of the office are in order. Marina is currently a student at the University of Illinois at Springfield, majoring in Biology.
